Parent and Baby Wellbeing Program

BUPA, in association with PIRI, have developed the Parent and Baby Wellbeing program - a range of support services especially for members with new babies around Australia.

The following services are available under the program:

  • Consultation and support over the phone or email
  • Identification of depression and anxiety
  • Plus personalised follow-up support, if needed - including group programs for adjusting to parenthood and sessions for you and your baby

These services are fully covered as part of your membership, provided you have either hospital or hospital and extras cover.

BUPA comprises
HBA & MBF in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, Australian Capital Territory and Western Australia and MBF & Mutual Community in South Australia and Northern Territory.

About the program

Parent and Baby Wellbeing offers valuable support for BUPA members during the exciting and challenging transition into parenthood. Receiving additional support during this time can be helpful, particularly if you or your partner experience any of the following:

  • Feeling overwhelmed or struggling to cope
  • Worrying about your baby's behaviour
  • Difficulties feeling bonded to your baby
  • Feeling depressed or anxious
  • A premature birth

The Parent and Baby Wellbeing program is part of BUPA commitment to taking care of their members.

How to access the program

1. If you'd like additional support with the transition to parenthood, you can contact PIRI on 1300 360 913 or email Sofia on sofia.rallis@austin.org.au. Simply advise you are a member of BUPA and provide them with your member number.

2. You'll be able to speak confidentially with an experienced professional about what you are experiencing and how you are feeling.

3. A few telephone calls or emails may be all that you need. If you need more support, you may be invited to attend a session in person, where you may be assessed and referred for ongoing, personalised support (for example, face-to-face counselling sessions, group programs or sessions for you and your baby).
