PIRIs Program Brochures
We are currently updating the PIRI Download Portal. Shortly, licensed users will be able to access downloadable materials for some of PIRI’s programs.
The programs that have materials available are:
- Community HUGS Therapeutic Playgroup: H.U.G.S. stands for “Happiness, Understanding, Giving and Sharing” This playgroup was developed in recognition of the fact that postnatal depression and other issues in the early postnatal period can lead to disturbances in the mother-infant relationship, and that treatment of maternal symptoms of postnatal depression alone may not improve the mother-infant relationship. Following training, comprehensive handouts and proformas to allow facilitators to run the program will be available to download.
- Overcoming Depression: Overcoming Depression is evidence based brief 6 session treatment designed for health professionals working with women with mild to moderate postnatal depression. The program developed by The Parent-Infant Research Institute uses counselling skills to help develop a therapeutic relationship, to explore and understand contributing issues and to support problem solving. Elements of cognitive behavioural therapy are also included to increase pleasant activities, challenging negative thinking and managing anxiety through relaxation. The Overcoming Depression Program includes one couple session to provide information and support to the partner. The handouts and relaxation CD will become available to download.
- Getting Ahead of Postnatal Depression: This is a twelve-week cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) group program designed primarily to improve maternal mood. Each session lasts approximately 1.5 hours. Women learn coping strategies to help manage their mood. Following training, a comprehensive set of handouts that supports this program will be available to download.
- Premie Press: Premie Press is a quarterly publication for those interested in the development of premature babies. Back issues will become available for download.
To become a licenced user you will need to undertake one of our specialised training workshops.
