Perinatal Mental Health Week 2023

Perinatal Mental Health Week 2023

Expectant and New Parents Have a Village of Support

During Perinatal Mental Health Week in November, expectant and new parents will know that they have a village of support around them whenever they need it.

Perinatal Mental Health Week (12-18 November) uses one clear message ‘We’re here, uncover your village’ to connect expectant and new parents with the communities that can support them.

Under the theme “We’re here, uncover your village,” more than 53 perinatal, parenting, and mental health organisations will come together to connect expectant and new parents with the communities that can support them. These organisations will offer a range of perinatal, parenting, and mental health support services.

The transition into parenthood can be a challenging time, with 1 in 5 new mums and 1 in 10 new dads or non-birthing partners experiencing perinatal depression and anxiety. That’s around 100,000 Australian parents each year.

With so many families in need, the perinatal and early parenting sector has come together to let expectant and new parents know that there is support available to help them navigate their journey, reduce stigma, provide education, and offer support and healing.

Your village replenishes you when you are depleted, strengthens you when you are struggling, and holds you when you might feel we are falling apart. We’re here, uncover your village.

The Perinatal Mental Health Week theme was created by people who have experienced the struggles of mental ill-health, the loved ones that care for them, and Perinatal Mental Health Week partners. The campaign will shine a light on the real experiences of expectant and new parents who have been there in the hard times, so that new and expectant parents know they are not alone.

We’re here, uncover your village.
